Day 14

Tuesday May, 24th  Hours: 4 Today was pretty low-key and I was pretty much just scrambling to finish my hours. I also had to keep in mind that I needed to complete my self evaluation essay by tonight. I had a jazz rock rehearsal so I also had to keep that in mind. I was able to catch some students chalking self portraits outside slocumb and caught few flicks. Karl Methven also was walking tucker around campus so I had to stop him to snap some photos of him! I spent the evening exploring the UNT page to see if there are any specific classes I need to take my freshman year in order to continue this in the future!

Day 13

Monday May, 23rd  Hours: 4  Today I started off my morning working for an hour with Ebby (my mentor) who helped me get hours by cleaning up tech stuff in the Outdoor Center. I decided since I wanted to switch gears a but more and take photos, I would spend the rest of the afternoon walking around campus taking photos of everything. I was able to capture some adorable photos of Spencers well known puppy Zora! She sat still and I was able to capture that!I was also able to go into the Metal shop and get some cool photos of some items inside there!

weekly reflection

This week has been very productive and a fun experience. I was able to focus on taking photos of pretty much anything rather than just sports. I think something I realized is the importance of learning new things along senior project. I learned that even though not everything will go the way you want it expect, you can work through that and grow and learn from that. I was a bit late this week with a few of my blogs but I was able to get them done and I only have a few more hours of work left!

Day 12

Saturday, May 21 Hours: 4  A very nonchalant day but I spent more time doing things than I expected. I spent sometime with some close family friends and then headed back home to capture some really cool Polaroid photos of my friends I spent the whole evening trying to get cool angles of the sunset, and try getting shadows. I have realized that this projected has turned more into a photography project rather than a sports management, but I am happy with it because I have found a new passion.

Day 11

Friday May, 20th  Total Hours: 4 As beautiful as the weather was today, I spent most of the morning inside online in a meeting with a follow friend who is currently majoring in sports management. She had given me so much insight into the cool world of sports when you aren't an athlete. I spent hours talking and learning about how I could persue this. I went to school late in the afternoon and started to just take some photos of Proctors natural beauty, rather than just the sports.

Day 10

Thursday May, 19th  Hours: 5 Today's finally where I was able to put my newly improved white screen to use! I had Boston College XC and Track and Field commit come in for a solo senior photoshoot since he seemed to be the only one who had his uniform still. I do wish I was able to do girls lacrosse, tennis, and baseball but to is all about the learning experience and trial and error. I think this is something I would really like to pursue in the future on a more advanced professional level.

Day 9

Wednesday May, 18th Total Hours 4 Today I spent the morning at home exploring classes that I will be taking at UNT. I want to continue photography in college as well as my sports management major. I was able to request an advisor and now I just have to wait to hear back to apply for courses. My camera has been acting weird so I went online and spent some time trying to fix it just by watching YouTube videos. I was also able to explore options for after college life and being able to work with the Dallas Cowboys as a manager.

Day 8

Tuesday May, 17th Hours: 4 I spent today learning how to use my camera properly and laying out my schedule for the games tomorrow and where I should be and when. I’m excited to take photos tomorrow now that there isn’t any rain in the forecast. I honestly didn’t do much more than that. I am hoping to get back to media day photos once I finish fixing what was broken on the white screen! I added a turf strip over my white screen to cover the hole with some help of a friend and I think it turned out great.

Day 7

Image
Monday, May 16th Hours: 3.5 Today was pretty chill. I spent the whole time editing and trying to get everything uploaded to my Flickr. It took a while but once I got everything up I was very excited and relived. I have to say that editing definitely is very time consuming but it’s so worth it in the end and makes your photos very pleasing to look at. Sometime I learned was that you don’t need to take the perfect photo because you can edit it after anyway you really want which in the future, will make my photography easier. (Knowing it doesn’t have to be a perfect photo)

Weekly Reflection

This week has been extremely fun and honestly such a cool experience. Something I had noticed along the way is that I wish I had focused more on sports management rather than a media management. I could have easily followed around team managers and helped them or even helped Trish out with uniforms but that could be a possibility for next week. I enjoyed setting up and using my green screen but unfortunately It was ruined in the midst of an indoor baseball practice. No worries because I was able to fix it and make it work to attempt to take more photos! This week has been so much fun and I hope I can branch out a but more it what I am photographing and what I am doing with use of my time.

Day 6

Image
Saturday, May 15th Hours: 4  Today was a beautiful day. I took advantage of it being a Saturday and went to school a little bit later and just lied on the turf until it was time to get to work. Weather has been a difficult factor in a sense that I would rather hang outside with friends instead of editing photos. But I spent a while sitting inside using Adobe Lightroom to edit the media day photos I took for boys lacrosse team on Friday. They turned out so good but I still have about 50 more photos to edit so I will plan to do that on Monday!  Later in the evening I had to drive to southern New Hampshire to meet with a family friend who is a professional photographer. There, I took my senior photos and was also able to spend about an hour after learning different camera techniques and settings. I think the coolest part to having that opportunity was being able to take advantage of something that was right infront of me!

Day 5

Image
Friday, May 13 Hours: 5 Today was actually so much fun! I finally put my white screen to good use. I was able to spend a while setting it and fixing lighting before boys varsity lacrosse came in all geared up with their black shooter shirts and mesh black jerseys. The balance and contrast between their uniforms and the backdrop looked incredible. The camera was not as cooperative as I had hoped it would be but it got the job done. After that I spend some time uploading those photos and editing a few of them. Saturday is going to be a long day of editing. I am meeting with my moms friend on Saturday evening to learn how to use a camera better!

Day 4

Image
Thursday, May 12th Total Hours: 4 Today was spent mostly just editing photos and taking photos. I got some really cool shots of boys varsity lacrosse as they practiced for their final home game of the Spring 2022 season. The weather was beautiful once again and it was just amazing to feel so involved in the sports community here at Proctor. I made a realization that I need to start branching out with the teams that I am photographing so next week I am going to try and get over to baseball, track, and hopefully equestrian!

Day 3

Image
Wednesday, May 11th Hours: 3.5 Day 3 was very enjoyable given the beautiful weather in Andover, NH. still feels very weird to be on campus but not enrolled in classes anymore. I started my day off in the day student lounge uploading photos to my flicker account. Then Ebby (mentor) showed me this really cool website that gives you templates to design graphics for sports. I designed a gamely poster for boys varsity tennis and a recruiting poster for lacrosse for Zach Macey. After that I spent some time on the turf playing soccer and doing cardio before to was time to start taking photos of the boys varsity tennis match. I got some cool action shots of both girls and boys lacrosse as well! Overall the weather made this day so much more enjoyable and I am excited to do it again tomorrow!

Day 2

Image
Tuesday, May 10th Hours: 3.5      Today was so much fun! The weather was beautiful and there wasn't a single cloud in the sky! Minus the fact that the black flies were terrible, there was a part of me that just enjoyed being out on the turf watching the athletes in action. And although it is very weird being on the other end of the camera, I think it is such a special and unique experience. I have found my flow of things during the day, I wake up at 8:30 every morning and leave my house by 9:00. Arriving to school by 10:00 I can start to plan the rest of my day. I will take my time reviewing practice and game times and locations so I know where to be for photos. I also have found that I have more time to focus on my journalism class that I am continuing throughout senior project. I am super excited to continue this project and I am very excited to see where it takes me!

Day 1

Image
Monday, May 9th Hours: 4 Day 1! Day one was kind of slow at the start but picked up once the girls varsity senior game started. I was able to take some senior photos for Bella and Ali before they headed off to the pitch! It took a while to find the proper lighting, camera adjustments but once I got it, it turned out well. I was able to also sit down on the softball field and take some photos as well. Lindsey Allenby helped me adjust my camera to outdoor lighting as well as taking photos during sports! I spent the evening uploading my photos to Flickr and creating easy to access albums for students. Tomorrow I plan to send out an email with the link to the community!
